The Peterborough Town Library, 2 Concord St., announces its January 2025 “New Year, New You” programming, offering opportunities for residents to connect, read, learn and explore new interests.
The PTL Dinner Club is a monthly cookbook club and potluck. The first meeting of the year is Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. This month’s theme is “Magazine Bites Edition.” Participants are encouraged to bring a dish made from a recipe found in the library’s magazine collection. Registration is required.
For writers and readers, PTL and Monadnock Underground host a monthly open mic night for writers of all genres and experience levels. The next session is Thursday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 p.m.
Monadnock Handcrafters, an informal drop-in group for crafters, meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. People can bring handwork projects like knitting or spinning to the first session on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. All ages are welcome.
Program and Outreach Librarian Rebecca Enman leads “That’s So Crafty: Self-Care Kit” on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m. Participants will create bath salts and scrubs to take home. Registration is required.
The library’s Tech Tuesday class meets on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. This month’s topic is “Getting Started with Google Apps: Docs, Sheets, Slides and Calendar.” Drop-In Tech Help is also available on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m.
For those who enjoy reading, PTL offers two book clubs. Books & Banter meets on the third Tuesday of the month, Jan. 21, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “The Bear and the Nightingale” by Katherine Arden. The Literary Book Club meets the last Friday of the month, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. to discuss “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict. New members are welcome.
The library offers two yoga classes in January. Vinyasa flow yoga with Michelle Dunn is a monthly class for all fitness levels, meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. Morning Yoga with The River Center begins Monday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. This gentle class, held weekly through March, includes seated or standing poses. Registration is required for Morning Yoga.
Library parking is not guaranteed. Patrons are encouraged to use Peterborough’s downtown and park in the Depot Square or Riverwalk lots.
