Temple, NH – Charles Norman Eggert, Jr. "Charlie", of Temple, NH crossed the finish line of life on April 2nd, 2026, with the same tenacity that he lived it. Charles was born in Seattle, Washington Sept 26, 1947 to Charles Sr. and Elizabeth Jean Eggert. He called Francestown home beginning in 1957 when his family settled on Main Street and he entered 5th grade. Charles then attended Peterborough High School and was a true scholar/athlete. He participated in multiple sports and was a proud member of the 1965 state championship Track and Field team, where he placed 3rd in the Mile Run. He excelled in academics, was a member of the National Honor Society and honored as the outstanding male member of his 1965 graduating class. He attended Cornell University and then enlisted in the U S Army where he honorably served as a Hawk Missile instructor/technician at Ft Bliss. Following his service, he returned to Cornell where he graduated with a Biomedical Engineering degree, and then attended UACJ School of Medicine in Juarez Mexico.
Charles loved participating in and watching sports of all kinds and levels, especially the NE Patriots, who he faithfully followed from their inception in 1960. He was a virtual encyclopedia of all things Pats and sports in general.
He and his beloved life partner Honey Hastings lived in Temple for many years, enjoying gardening, contra dancing, political and community participation. Following Honey's sudden passing in December 2022, he once again became much more closely attached to his siblings Cheryl Aldridge of El Paso, TX, Linda Thomson of Oxnard, CA and Larry Eggert of Kearney, NE.
Charles was able to live his final years on his own terms, happily at home with the assistance of his family and the expert and loving care of Shannon Trombley and Becky Ciardelli and all of the caregivers, of Independent HomeCare LLC in Jaffrey. Of special note, also, is Charles' caregiver Sandy Kolemainen, who treated Charles as family. We are thankful for longtime friends and associates who extended many kindnesses over the years to help Charles through his struggles. He departed this earth at peace with himself and with everyone in his past. He will be dearly missed, especially by his Maine Coon cat, Kathleen.
