The 1833 Society has received $10,000 from an anonymous donor, which will be put toward the Peterborough Library Endowment Fund.

The 1833 Society was created with a mission to raise the funds necessary to renovate and rebuild the Peterborough Town Library.

Since completing that mission in 2021, the 1833 Society has shifted its focus to stewarding funds in support of the PTL Endowment Fund, which exists to plan for the needs of the future.

The majority of the library trust funds were depleted to complete the 2021 renovation, and together with the library trustees, the 1833 Society is committed to building back this fund to keep the library vibrant and supported into the future.

“We are very thankful for this continued support. It was because of the foresight of generous donors in the past that the library was renovated in 2021.We are thrilled to have donors today who are planning already for the future of our beloved public library,” stated 1833 President Sue Martin.
