The third presentation at the 76th annual Amos Fortune Forum 2023 summer speaker series will feature local painter Chris Myott Friday, July 21, at 8 p.m. in the Meetinghouse located in Jaffrey Center.
The free presentation is titled “The Art and Stories of Chris Myott,” and he will talk about the inspiration, influence and process behind making art, and why he continues to create in his hometown of Jaffrey. He combines tools, plants, figures and other abstract forms into oil paintings, using a palette knife and other implements to manipulate and draw through the surface of the paint.
Myott graduated from Chester College in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in painting. He spent his early career in Boston and worked primarily as a woodworker. In 2009, he moved back to his hometown of Jaffrey, where he built a studio in an 1800s farmhouse. His work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and has been featured in numerous art publications.
This summer, the forum is providing space and seating on the Meetinghouse Common for attendees who would like to arrive early and bring a picnic. This space will be set up on Friday evening by 6:30 p.m.
All presentations are streamed live (facebook.com/amosfortuneforum), and more program information is available at amosfortune.com.
