Mike Piazza and his team of Flying High Dogs entertained about 100 people at Memorial Field in Temple Tuesday night as part of the Mansfield Public Library’s “All Together Now” Summer Reading Program.
“We were really pleased with the turnout,” said Library Director Beth Crooker. “We try to do one big event each summer, and this was the biggest crowd I’ve seen in years. The beautiful weather didn’t hurt either.”
The audience lined the field as Piazza’s border collies – Chaos, Mojo and Oreo – performed for about an hour. The dogs executed a variety of Frisbee and other tricks throughout the show. Piazza also sprinkled in some dog trivia between acts, such as that dogs sweat through their paws.
Children and adults were pulled from the audience to toss Frisbees to the dogs and compete in friendly competitions. Temple youngster Spencer Anair went home with two gold medals for his successful tosses.
Piazza’s team has performed at fairs and community events throughout New England for more than 20 years. Piazza is a multiple time world finalist and world record holder in the sport of K-9 Frisbee.
