Singer-songwriter Matt Nakoa will perform at The Park Theatre, 19 Main St. in Jaffrey, Saturday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m.
Nakoa has fronted for folk and blues artist Tom Rush on numerous tours, and Rush has been quoted as saying, “He’s a brilliant frontman. He steals the show, and I pay him to do it. I don’t know why.”
Nakoa grew up on a farm in Kerhonkson, N.Y., and trained for voice at the Berklee College of Music. After moving to New York City, he started playing at bars, including Brandy’s Piano. His first album, “Light in The Dark,” came out in 2012. Nakoa’s awards include the New Folk Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival.
