Stories to Share concludes its second season Friday, May 5 at 5 p.m. at Jaffrey Civic Center, 40 Main St., with Jaffrey native Steve Pelkey, pyrotechnician and chair of Jaffrey’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Pelkey has served as the CEO and artistic director for Atlas PyroVision Entertainment since 1986. His talk will cover nearly 40 years of pyrotechnic experience, and how Atlas PyroVision became one of the country’s leading fireworks and special effects companies. He has worked on shows ranging from small community events to productions for major companies such as the Discovery Channel, film, professional sporting events and international competitions.

In addition to his work with Atlas PyroVision, Pelkey is also actively involved in the pyrotechnic community. His family continues a three-generation legacy as the oldest fireworks company in New England, going back to Atlas’s beginning in 1949. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, and he is currently serving his second term as the president of the American Pyrotechnics Association.

Pelkey’s talk will cover the various aspects of pyrotechnics, including how computers have enabled his company to create innovative shows that were once impossible. In the fall of 2022 Pyrotecnico, the largest pyrotechnic event company in the United States, acquired Atlas PyroVision, but Pelkey remains active in mentoring pyrotechnic designers and show technicians.

The program is free, but registration for in-person attendance is required, and donations are appreciated. The program will also be available remotely via YouTube live.
