Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Congregation will celebrate Beltane during its regular service on Sunday, April 30, at 10:15 a.m. in the meeting house.
Beltane is the Gaelic May Day festival, commonly observed on May 1. The festival, which was originally a Celtic celebration of the warmth of the sun and fertile land below, falls midway between the spring equinox and summer solstice. It is being celebrated at PUUC as it pertains to the Unitarian Universalist seventh principle, “respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.”
A maypole dance will take place on the front lawn after the service, after which refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
