First Church in Jaffrey (Congregational, UCC) will hold its traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service Saturday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. The Rev. Steve Miller and Minister of Music Gene Faxon have created a family service of lessons and carols for the 1831 sanctuary decorated with poinsettias and greens. The gathering will close with “Silent Night” sung by all in the candle-lit sanctuary.

On Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, First Church welcomes all to an informal worship service at 10:30 a.m. The service will include coffee and sweet rolls as attendees celebrate the day Christ was born with music and stories, sharing and fellowship. Casual dress, even pajamas and robes, is encouraged.

To keep the community safe from COVID, masks are strongly recommended for both services, but not required.

First Church is located in Jaffrey Center, two miles west of downtown Jaffrey on Route 124 and adjacent to the Jaffrey Meetinghouse. For information, go to firstchurchinjaffrey.org or call 603-532-7979.
