This summer, we traveled through New Hampshire and spent several days in Concord. Our interest in the state’s history included a visit to the Capitol building and grounds.

While walking the halls, we had a chance encounter with state Sen. Denise Ricciardi. She immediately made us feel at ease and our conversation expanded. She invited us into her office, where we discussed politics nationally and under the New Hampshire form of government.

Our conversation breached some current issues on which people have different views. Ricciardi was respectful of our positions, which differed in some significant ways, and she didn’t dodge relevant questions. The senator stayed squarely on subject and demonstrated an open mind receptive to candid and diverse substantive points. We found this a very refreshing characteristic in a current politician.

We hope that her District 9 constituents and state House colleagues appreciate her value in the state Legislature and give her due respect. She is well-versed, politically astute and worthy of continuing service to the people of New Hampshire and to its legislative process.

Re-election time is approaching. Please take the opportunity to vote.
