The monthly First Friday event in downtown Peterborough is Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. and later.

People can visit local businesses, and inside The Toadstool Bookshop, the Gap Mountain Trio will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Featuring Chaz Beaulieu on flute, Eric Blackmer on guitarย and Dave Duhon on cello.ย Gap Mountain’s repertoire is aย mix of music from a range of traditions and genres that include Celtic, classical, American folk, jazz standards and original music.

Greater Keene & Peterborough Chamber,ย 45 Main St. , is hosting anย art show opening with works by Joe Caracappa. The show is featuring his large oil paintings, and he will be on hand to answer questions about his work.ย Light refreshments will be served.

Peterborough Town Library, Concord Street, will be holding a drop-in lantern-making workshopย from 5 to 7 p.m.ย The lanterns will be simple painting with watercolor on vellum, but adults will still need to help small children.ย Lanterns are being made for the Lantern Parade on Dec. 3.

After visiting the merchants, people can get food and drink in and around the square.
