Reality Check, 17 Turnpike Road in Jaffrey, will hold the following fall training sessions in-person and hybrid with New Hampshire Training Institute in Concord.

— Oct. 14, “HIV Update for Substance Use Professionals,” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m: People can learn more about recovery housing in New Hampshire and all of the factors that New Hampshire Coalition of Recovery Residences-certified recovery home operators consider and balance while operating their recovery homes. Cost is $75.

— Oct. 17, “Understanding Substance Use through the Lens of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma,” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The program includes basics of trauma definition and symptomology, with a focus on the impact of multiple adverse childhood experiences and treatment considerations. Cost is $75 

— Oct. 18, “What to Say and What to Do: Working with Survivors of Trauma,” 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: This session will provide participants an opportunity to explore techniques in advancing physical and emotional safety. Cost is $75.

— Oct. 19, “Grief After Death by Overdose: Working with Survivors,” 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.:  This session will review common tasks in healing. Cost is $75.

— Oct. 21, “The 12 Core Functions of a Substance Use Counselor,” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Emphasis will be on the 12 core functions, the assessments BPS and ASI, entry-level diagnosis, SMART treatment planning and exceptions to confidentiality. Cost is $60.

— Oct. 24 to 27, four-day Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) training, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: The SAPST consists of a five-hour, self-paced online module, followed by a four-day, 26-hour interactive, in-person training. Cost is $175.

— Oct. 27, “Initial Training on Addiction & Recovery,” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: The free session will cover the neurological basis of addiction, mental, behavioral, emotional and spiritual dimensions, stages of change, recovery, motivational techniques and resources.

— Oct. 28, “Families & Addiction,” 8:30 to 11:45 a.m.: The free discussion will center on strategies and resources to help increase resiliency and coping skills.

— Nov. 3, “Ethics & Clinical Practice,” 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: This training is designed for both administrative and clinical staff members interested in ethical problem-solving and legal risk-management strategies. Cost is $60.

— Nov. 4, “Self-Care: Compassion, Coping, & Quality of Life,” 10 to 11:30 a.m.: This workshop explores work-life balance and self-care. Participants will examine the Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL), the Self Care Wheel and the role of self-compassion as it relates to stress and self-care. Cost is $35.
