My colleague, Ivy Vann, came up short last Tuesday for one of the two Democratic candidates for state representative. Ivy and I have served four terms together representing Peterborough.
Those who know Ivy won’t be surprised if I tell you she is known in the Legislature as a fierce proponent of creating more affordable housing. She has been the go-to person not only for affordable housing, but zoning and planning issues. We all owe Ivy gratitude for her dedication to Peterborough and for showing up in Concord to vote on issues important to us.
I would also like to thank the Peterborough and Sharon voters who voted to support me in the primary. If you didn’t vote for me, you will have another opportunity Nov. 8.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Jonah Wheeler, who was the top vote-getter in the primary. In my many years of running and standing at the polls, I have never seen so many young voters turn out to vote. Jonah’s ability to energize young people is noteworthy and commendable. I am looking forward to working with Jonah should we make it through the general election.
