On Wednesday, Sept. 21, the library will present “The Color Purple,” based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, which has frequently been challenged and banned because of its violence. On Friday, Sept.22, the program ends with “To Kill a Mockingbird,” based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee that was published in 1960 and has been challenged because of its rape, profanity and racism.
