Music in Bass Hall welcomes back guitarist Hiroya Tsukamoto for an evening that fuses jazz, folk and world music on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Born in Kyoto, Japan, Tsukamoto began his musical career when he began playing the five-string banjo at the age of 13. Soon after, he took up the guitar and later received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music. In Boston, he formed his own group, Interoceanico, a blend of musicians from different continents, including Grammy-award winning Columbian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three records showcasing Tsukamotoโ€™s blending of world music traditions. Now, Tsukamoto performs solo and has recorded three albums, โ€œSolo,โ€ย โ€œHeartlandโ€ย and โ€œPlaces.โ€

Tsukamoto headlines concerts throughout the United Statesย as well as internationally, including The Blue Note in New York City, the United Nations, and on Japanese television. After a nearly two-year break from touring, Tsukamoto is returning to live music.

Tickets are $24 ($20 for Monadnock Center members). For information or to purchase tickets, visit monadnockcenter.org or the center at 603-924-3235.ย
