I regularly purchase a nonresident pass to use the Cunningham Pond swimming area, a location I enjoy several times a week during the season. My experiences using such a peaceful, beautiful and pristine venue are ones I treasure.

My recent visits have, however, been ruined owing to the accumulation of dog waste on the beach and grassy areas where children play and swimmers relax. Clearly, the ignorant pet-owners responsible are abusing the area after official closing when both staff and swimmers have departed. Their careless disregard for sanitation, maintaining civic public spaces, respect for others and responsibilities of pet-owners is intolerable. I have no idea how to stop their digressions from common decency.

Obviously, they adhere to the principle that one does not defecate or urinate in one’s own pool but doing so in everyone else’s pool is acceptable.
