Two local nursing homes are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks, including two deaths attributed to COVID-19, according to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
An update provided by DHHS on March 30 listed eight New Hampshire institutions with COVID-19 outbreaks as of the end of March. Included on the list are Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey and Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough, with both outbreaks affecting mainly the resident population.
Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center had 20 resident cases of COVID-19 and one staff case. Pheasant Wood had a total of 42 resident cases and 11 staff cases, and two deaths, according to the report.
Officials at both Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Pheasant Wood Center could not be reached for comment.
Both facilities have had one other outbreak reported, one dating back to last December in Jaffrey and one that started in December 2020 in Peterborough. Jaffrey Rehabilitation’s earlier outbreak included 33 residents, 11 staff and resulted in one death reported before being declared closed in January.
Pheasant Wood’s previous outbreak, which was considered closed Jan. 5, 2021, resulted in 32 resident cases, two staff cases and seven deaths.
Other facilities listed in the report with current outbreaks include the Applewood Rehabilitation Center, the Arbor View Inn, Coos County Nursing Home, Hackett Hill Center, Langdon Place of Dover and Rochester Manor.
DHHS’s most recent update, for April 5, included 123 new cases of COVID-19 reported statewide. As of April 5, there were 1,036 current cases diagnosed in New Hampshire and four current hospitalizations. Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 2,455 people have died from the disease, according to DHHS.
