Development on the next building in the Southfield Village condominium complex in Peterborough is scheduled to begin this week.
Ziggy Mathewson, one of the developers in charge of the work, said that the hope is to make progress on the site work.
“It’s going well,” he said. “It’s a little bit weather-dependent.”
Mathewson Properties LLC purchased the rights from the town to develop 60 additional units on the site near the current Southfield condos, finalizing the purchase in November for $200,000. At the time, the company’s stated intention was to build 50 of the 60 units that the rights afford them. For now, Mathewson said, they’re sticking with just one building, or 10 units. Southfield currently has six buildings of 10 units each.
“The only thing that’s really set in stone is the building that we’re working on right now,” he said.
Mathewson Properties hopes to get everything in line to develop the rest of the buildings on their list, but Mathewson said that first they have to make sure the association is on board. The hope is to get the other developments underway in the coming months, while the first construction is expected to be completed sometime in November.
“It’s tough to say, because there’s us getting our ducks in a row, and then there’s the association,” Mathewson said. “Hopefully everything’s kind of in order, and we can be set to go.”
