When Katelyn Manfre of Peterborough went into labor on Tuesday, everyone around her noted that the baby might have a very special birthday.
“I mean, I was barely there, like mentally, but everybody just kept saying it,” she said. “They were like, ‘Maybe she’ll have that cool birthday.’”
And then, after arriving at Monadnock Community Hospital in the morning, she said that she suddenly noticed that it was about 2:10 p.m.
“And there’s a really good chance this baby’s gonna be born at 2:22, but the odds of that actually happening in the moment were really slim,” she said.
And then it did. Ivy Rosalind Thomas was born at 2:22 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2022.
“It was really wild, we couldn’t believe it,” said Manfre. She said she and her husband, Michael Dix Thomas, had been expecting their baby on her due date of Valentine’s Day, and when that day came and went, Manfre was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday. She ended up starting her labor naturally.
“We’re thrilled,” Manfre said. “We feel like we have to get into numerology now, and certainly we have a lot of people in our life that are telling us all the reasons this is an important and auspicious moment. I’m sure we’ll have lots of follow-up, like what does it mean. There’s so much we don’t know, but we’re excited to learn.”
The baby is healthy, and so is Manfre, and the family is set to leave the hospital on Thursday.
