A breath of fresh air

Not long ago I became so discouraged by party politics that I changed my registration to ‘Undeclared.’ Why? Because efforts to get our politicians to enact programs and provide benefits that help ordinary folks make their lives better were failing. Instead, “Voodoo Economics,” so named by Bush senior, to “Trickle Down Economics,” to the “Big Beautiful Bill” ballyhooed by the current administration, were resulting in tax breaks for corporations and the rich while ignoring or slashing programs and benefits for the rest of us, especially the poor.
Today the wealth-income inequality gap between the rich and poor is at its widest point in modern history – exceeding the Gilded Age a century ago.
Add the image of Elon Musk wielding a chainsaw in the Oval Office, leading the charge to eviscerate the civil service and programs, even those that help people in dire need of housing, food, and health care.
Then I saw someone running for our state House of Representatives as an “Independent.” I read public information about him and attended a Candidates Night in our Town Hall.
Tim Coffin’s not mired in worn-out efforts or tied to any party’s deceptive ploys. He brings a new perspective and fresh energy to a legislature in need of it. In his own words – “four decades of experience in municipal finance, partnering with public officials and investors across America to get needed projects built and paid for – public schools, roads and bridges, clean water.” A track record of making good things happen.
He asks questions, listens, pays attention. He will see that government responds to what we want from it for our families, friends and neighbors, businesses and communities.
I’m on the bandwagon. I’m voting for Tim Coffin. Come along; there’s room for you too.
