Hancock’s Winter Frolic returns this weekend after a few years on hiatus.
It will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Norway Pond, with a backup date in case of inclement weather of Feb. 26.
Recreation Committee Chair Jessica Quinn said the Frolic has been popular in years past, and that the committee was excited to bring it back.
“As a committee, we knew going into this year that we wanted to get more events and activities back on the calendar, so we decided to take a little bit of a leap and schedule a Winter Frolic, even though none of us have every planned one before,” she said.
Activities will include sledding, ice skating and games, as well as fires to enjoy and snacks and hot drinks. While in previous years, the Frolic has included a cardboard box sled race, this year’s will not feature an official race, but people are welcome to bring boxes for sledding, Quinn said.
“It will be a casual event, mostly focused on community members getting an opportunity to be outside and spend some time together,” she said. “I think folks are excited to get together.”
