Wilton hosted a Winter Festival Feb. 12, sponsored by the Wilton Main Street Association and the Wilton Public and Gregg Free Library
Several events took place throughout the day both indoors and outdoors, with activities for all ages.
At Second Congregational Church, local businesses set up booths showcasing their goods, answering questions about their business and selling items to the public, while hot chocolate and local potluck were served.
At Main Street Park, patrons visiting the local shops for Valentine’s Day gifts could make their way to the marshmallow roasting booth for s’mores, operated by the Wilton Main Street Association. After the number of s’mores made for large groups of families reduced their supply of graham crackers, Alison Melzer, president of the Main Street Association, received a donation of premium chocolate graham crackers from Nelson’s Candy, located adjacent to the park.
A children’s Valentine’s Day crafts project, scheduled to take place at the library, was moved to Main Street Park, and children created a colorful Valentine’s snow sculpture with donated craft supplies.
The Ice Breakers ice-carving company out of Manchester set up shop in the park, with several large blocks of ice on display to the public. Sculpting artists Dave Soha and Dennis Hickey spent the day preparing and shaping the ice next to the s’mores station, where patrons could ask questions about their process.
