On Wednesday, Feb. 9, the Jaffrey Public Library is hosting an introductory needle felting workshop for youths ages 11 to 17 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
At the same time, and for another two hours after the workshop ends, the library is also hosting a COVID-19 drop-in vaccination clinic. Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines and boosters will be available, including first and second doses for those 5 to 11 years old and first, second and booster shots for those 12 years and older who are at least five months from their initial primary series completion. Adults getting boosters should bring photo ID and vaccination cards..
The youths in the workshop or their parents who pick them up can get a shot, as can people using the library for any other reason. Libraries are convenient places that people go to regularly, which is why it’s a good idea for them to host vaccination clinics.
And it’s a good idea for N95 respirator masks to be available at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid. People shop at pharmacies for all kinds of items, so it’s easy to grab masks at the same time.
While libraries and common retail outlets may seem like logical choices to get vaccinated or pick up masks, would state wine and liquor outlets have been at the top of anyone’s list?
Probably not, but if you’re looking for adult beverages for your Super Bowl party, a Valentine’s Day date or some other reason, you can now get COVID-19 test kits at the outlets in Peterborough, Rindge or any of the 65 others across New Hampshire.
Kits are available for $11.29, and people can buy as many as they want while supplies last. Currently, more than 500,000 kits are available, and according to the Feb. 4 announcement from the New Hampshire Liquor Commission, stores will be restocked as the state buys more kits.
Ideally, the tests would be free, but offering them in state wine and liquor outlets is a creative way to make them available in another place where people frequently shop. It’s all about taking COVID mitigation measures – whether they’re masks, tests or shots – to where people are and making it easy to keep as many healthy and protected as possible.
