Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Sports Editor Ben Conant has been named the National Sports Media Association New Hampshire Sportswriter of the Year for 2021.

Conant, who joined the Ledger-Transcript in October 2013, was nominated for the award by a NSMA member and voted in by a nationwide panel.

“I want to thank all the players, coaches and parents who grant me access and allow me to keep doing work for the community,” Conant said.

Conant’s award joins his 11 first-place New Hampshire Press Association first-place finishes as well as NHPA Photographer of the Year award for 2018.

The NSMA will hold the organization’s 62nd awards weekend and national convention June 25 to 27 in Winston-Salem, N.C., where the late Stuart Scott, sportscaster Hubie Brown and sportswriters Curry Kirkpatrick and Jackie MacMullan will be inducted into the National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame.

The 2021 national Sportscaster of the Year award winners are Turner Sports’ Ernie Johnson and ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt. NSMA members also voted ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan as the 20201 national sportswriter of the year.
