The Monadnock Area Transitional Shelter (MATS) gratefully acknowledges a recent grant from the Garrett-Larsen Social Justice Awards at the Nelson Congregational Church. The generous grant is earmarked for the Hope Fund at MATS, which assists guests at the shelter with procuring and maintaining reliable vehicles, an essential aspect of financial and housing stability. This award is in honor of Dawn Garrett-Larsen, former pastor at the Nelson Congregational Church, who cared deeply about the continuing problem of homelessness in the Monadnock region.

MATS also acknowledges a generous grant from the Keith M. Sullivan Foundation, whose mission is to “offer services to the children of our community, focusing primarily on the overall wellbeing of children through safety, education and social services.” This grant will be used to purchase and install a playground structure at the Lou Stone House, a building that is currently being renovated to provide additional living units for families in transition.

The MATS Board of Trustees is sincerely grateful for both of these grants.
