The first snowstorm of 2022 blanketed the region on Friday.
Although the snow shut down local school districts and made roads treacherous, many local towns reported that drivers remained safe throughout the storm.
Bennington Chief of Police Jason Lepine said that the town had one weather-related crash on Friday morning, in which a Toyota Tundra slid off of Antrim Road and hit a pole. There were no injuries, he said.
โWe just had the one crash,โ Lepine said, adding that it was relatively minor.
In Wilton, slippery roads on Route 31 South caused a crash near the Wilton Water Works, according to Wilton Police Chief Eric Olesen. On Friday morning, a Crown Victoria, driven by Brett Montgomery of Greenville, lost traction on the road. The vehicle slid into a Chevrolet 1500 pickup, driven by Brian Ross of Greenfield.
Rossโs Chevrolet sustained enough damage to be towed from the scene. Montgomery was able to drive his vehicle from the scene. Neither driver was injured.
Other area towns reported no crashes at all. Hancock Police Department administrative assistant Linda Parquette said that the town had no accidents on Friday, and Antrim Police Department Sgt. John Blake reported the same for his town. There were likewise no accidents reported in the towns of New Ipswich or Dublin.
Reporters Julia Stinneford and Ashley Saari contributed to this report.
