The Greenfield Town Clerk’s office is now offering online options for residents to renew car registrations and dog licenses, as well as to make vital-records requests.
“Moving to online payments is inevitable,” said Town Clerk Dorene Adams. “It’s what everybody does, so finally getting stuff together so we can offer it to everyone is in the best interest of our residents.”
Adams, who was elected in the spring, said she suggested offering the option of online payments. Once she got the process underway, she was hoping to have it ready in time for January renewals.
“And now it’s up and ready to go,” she said.
The online option is offered by EB2Gov, a service from Interware Development Company, which services municipalities with the platform to process these payments successfully. It comes at no cost to the town, with a small fee added onto transactions for those residents who use the service.
“It was very easy to switch over,” Adams said. “They had it done in a couple weeks.”
Adams said she hopes people who use the will find it easy to do so. The link is on the town clerk’s webpage of the Greenfield town website, greenfield-nh.gov, and is labeled “E-Payments.” From there, people can see what options are available to them – for now, the only services available are car registration renewals, dog registration and renewal and vital-records requests. For first-time car registration, people will still need to visit the town offices in person.
“I think it’ll help a lot of people, some people who can’t get out,” Adams said.
Adams added that the office will still welcome those who want to make an appointment and come in to take care of their business.
“I’m a social butterfly, I like to see people, I love when people come in to register,” she said. “But now, people will have options. If they’re busy, at least now they can go online and register. Or, they can still come in and see us.”
