Just to set the record straight (with a clearheaded view as he advises) about Larry Duberstein’s letter in the Nov. 30 edition, “Biden is doing pretty well,” the Democrats control the presidency, the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. It’s pretty wild to say President Joe Biden’s historic, plunging poll numbers are all due to “the obstructionist Republicans”!

Republicans have been largely shut out of any legislative process with the exception of some support for the so-called infrastructure bill. The Democrats’ agenda has been all about rapid growth of federal power, federal spending, federal debt and soon federal taxes if they prevail – all fundamental socialist aims, a path which restricts our liberties, lowers our national wealth, weakens our national defense, rations our health care and diminishes our God-given creativity.

Biden’s Afghanistan retreat was beyond the pale. I don’t believe a single other American would  have reversed the obvious order of evacuation  — civilians first, equipment and troops last. Unfortunately, it only took one, and he made the call against all military advice. Duberstein wrote Biden couldn’t do much about oil’s price or inflation. Quite the contrary, he has done a whopping lot to drive them higher: shutting down pipelines, halting drilling and permitting on federal lands, jacking up regulations and trying to raise energy taxes, to name a few.

Biden viciously attacked former President Donald Trump over COVID policies. Now his policies and lack of new vaccines against variants has tragically cost more American lives this year than last.

I do, however, agree with one thing Duberstein said – the Republicans  are coming.
