Massachusetts police say a Wilton man shot a woman in Salem Monday before fatally turning the gun on himself. 

According to press releases from the Essex County District Attorney’s office, police responded to Technology Way in Salem, Massachusetts at around 5 p.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. Responding units located a man, later identified as Richard Lorman, 55, of Wilton, dead on the ground of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and found a 33-year-old woman in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. 

The woman was airlifted to a Boston hospital. 

The incident remains under investigation by the the Salem Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.
