Francestown celebrated Veterans Day this year with its annual parade in the center of town, put on by the town’s Patriotic Purposes Committee.
Veterans from town were invited to participate, led in the parade by Mike Tartalis and Scott Carbee and followed by representatives from local Girl and Boy Scout troops as well as 4-H members.
Organizer BJ Carbee said that it was the “most-beautiful day” the town had seen for a Veterans Day ceremony.
The parade – the “shortest in the state” according to Carbee – stopped at Memorial Rock by the town’s old meeting house for a history of the holiday from Steve Griffin and a prayer from chaplain Ted Brown, as well as a firing salute and the playing of “Taps.”
