Rindge Police Sgt. Rachel Malynowski broke ground in Rindge by becoming the town’s first female officer 14 years ago. On Wednesday, the Select Board announced she’d be another “first” – the town’s first female police chief.
Following a nonpublic session, members of the Select Board publicly announced Malynowski as the choice to succeed former Chief Dan Anair, who officially retired last week after nearly 21 years on the force.
Malynowski became interested in policing after serving as a dispatcher and joined the Rindge Police Department 14 years ago. She has served as a patrol officer, a detective and since 2019, as the sergeant for the department.
