I’m horrified to say what many of us already know, that during the night of Oct. 2, someone broke into the office of Mickey Maguire at the corner of Rt. 202 and Sand Hill Road and stole his two birds, a Sun Conour Parakeet and a Quaker Parrot.

It’s one thing to steal food from a grocery store if you’re hungry – it’s totally wrong but at least it’s understandable. But stealing someone’s two beloved pets is like stealing two of someone’s children – a serious, meaningful crime, and not one bit understandable. Whoever did this is a repulsive, loathsome thief.

I know what it feels like to lose a pet, although I’ve never lost one that way, and I’m offering a $100 reward to whoever either returns the two birds or helps Mickey recover them.

Meanwhile I’m joining others by putting this on Facebook.
