The high school volleyball regular season concluded last week, and Mascenic is headed for a first-round playoff bye while ConVal missed the postseason but set some records in the process.

Mascenic takes second seed in Division III

The Vikings took care of visiting Farmington Friday, finishing the game with zero receiving errors for the 3-0 win. Senior Delaney Traffie had a career-high nine kills; Lyla Buxton added eight kills and a block; Annika Martel had six kills and four aces; Lindsey Coponen had two aces, and setter Kenzie Cormier had 23 assists and an ace.

The Vikings finished their regular season at 15-1, with their only loss coming to No. 1 undefeated Newfound (16-0). No. 2 Mascenic will have a playoff bye before hosting the winner of No. 7 Moultonborough and No. 10 Farmington Thursday at 6 p.m.

ConVal loses close one, misses playoffs

The Cougars took the floor Saturday for a twice-rescheduled season finale against Winnisquam. “Excited to face a new team and possibly make a playoff run, the girls were in good spirits,” coach Amanda Hinton said.

ConVal won the first and third sets but ultimately fell 3-2 to the visiting Bears to finish their season at 4-12, just outside the Division II playoffs.

Leading the Cougars Saturday was Emma Rodenhiser, who had four aces, 14 kills, two blocks, and six digs. Makaela Drumond had five kills; Sophia Hatmaker had four kills, and Samantha Henderson, Lillian Devoid, and Kendall Sullivan each added three kills. Henderson also broke a ConVal record with 26 digs in a single game, and Sullivan had five aces and 14 assists. Aria Laurent added five digs and 10 assists as well.

On Thursday, the Cougars fell 3-0 at Oyster River.

Leading the Cougars were Rodenhiser (one ace, two blocks, five kills); Sullivan (three assists, three digs,  one kill); Laurent (one ace, one kill, two assists, three digs), and Henderson (one ace, eight digs).
