Heroic athletes don’t protest US

I think protest is unpatriotic. Be proud of our American athletes and the support staff having the drive and courage to participate in the 2020-“ish” Summer Olympic venue. Kudos to Japan’s leaders and coordinators for pulling this off. This event was a sorely needed break in the world’s routine and good for our sanity. It’s disheartening the Women’s soccer team, who allege to represent the USA, medaled. I will only  remember a picture online during opening week with them and an official kneeling during our National Anthem and presentation of the flag. They do not deserve recognition; they are not role models and I shun them now. If a person(s) feels compelled to spotlight a cause or protest during a time-honored US ceremony, consider this compromise. Stay off the field in the locker room or find a discreet area to sit out during the presentation. Ensure a member of the press or media know what you are up to, and they will follow you like a pup to a treat. Simultaneously, the National Anthem and hallowed remembrance to the fallen can proceed with dignity. Your cause awareness is likely to be viral before the colors post. Congratulations to the appreciative, respectful American athletes and staff representing us win, lose, or draw. You are all heroes. Wishing you safe travels home.
