Emergency responders successfully escorted two lost hikers off North Pack Monadnock in Greenfield Sunday night.
Merrimack residents Dustin Molkentine, 28, and Gabriela Goulart, 27, had hiked to the top of North Pack Monadnock and were heading down the mountain when they got lost, according to a press release from NH Fish and Game.
Around 9:15 p.m., Goulart called 911. Her cell battery was too low to complete the call, but dispatchers still managed to get GPS coordinates and determine that the hikers had called from a spot about two miles from the trailhead and not far from Ted’s Trail, according to the press release.
Fire Department members from Greenfield and Lyndeborough sent two search teams up the mountain from Mountain Road in Greenfield, and found the two hikers around 11:45 p.m., according to the press release. Everyone got back to the trailhead around 1 a.m.
