High Mowing School in Wilton elected a new Board of Trustees President – the grandson of the school’s founder.
Richard Emmet was unanimously elected to be the independent private school’s next Board President. His grandmother, Beulah Hepburn Emmet, founded High Mowing School in 1942 after the family bought High Mowing in the 1920s and lived there.
Emmet was on the board previously and had been for several years, serving as a trustee and as finance chair. His other experience includes serving as Principal of the R.H. Emmet & Co. consulting group, heading the Corporate Development Department for Campbell Soup, and a variety of senior management positions at several Fortune 500 companies and banks. He also taught business courses at Rutgers.
“Raised by a family of educators, Richard believes firmly in the sacred mission of education,” the Board wrote in a press release announcing Emmet’s election.
Emmet said that he was looking forward to returning to High Mowing School, where he spent much of his childhood with his family and friends.
“Before High Mowing was a school, it was our family home,” Emmet said. “I’ve always loved the school, the students, and what High Mowing stands for, which is quality education.”
