Developers withdrew their proposal to excavate gravel from a lot on the Isaac Frye highway in Wilton during Tuesday night’s Zoning Board meeting.

The move was not entirely unanticipated: in previous meetings, Zoning Board members discussed a 2006 application to remove gravel from the same site, which had been denied, and the Board had been working to determine whether  the two cases were “reasonably closely related,” in which case the most recent proposal, by developer Isaac Frye Holdings and applicant Kenneth Lehtonen, would also need to be denied.

The applicants withdrew their proposal during the meeting, which featured a lengthy discussion between the Zoning Board, the applicants’ attorney, and the abutters’ attorney, Land Use Administra Michele Decoteau said Wednesday morning.
