A two-vehicle crash in Hancock overturned a Jeep and sent two to the hospital late Tuesday morning.
Emergency personnel were summoned to Route 202 near Cavender Road at 11:10 a.m. after a Jeep driven by Steven Chalmers, 48, of Gardner, Mass., crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a van driven by Steven Marshall, 55, of West Chesterfield, according to a press release from Hancock Police Chief Tom Horne.
The Jeep overturned onto the shoulder of Route 202, while the van sustained minor damage. Two adult passengers in the Jeep with Chalmers went to Monadnock Community Hospital with minor injuries, while Marshall and his passenger were uninjured, according to the press release.
Chalmers was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug, transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, and reckless driving. His Jeep was towed from the scene, and the van was able to be driven.
โThe Hancock Police Department wishes to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to all assisting agencies including the Hancock Fire Department, and the Peterborough Fire and Ambulance Services,โ Horne wrote.
