Former New Ipswich Town Clerk Jessica Olson has been hired as the part-time Deputy Clerk in Rindge.
Olson had previously held the position of town clerk in New Ipswich since 2014, and prior to that had served as the assistant town clerk under her predecessor, Cindy Lussier.
A deputy town clerk must have the same qualifications as a town clerk, and be able to perform all of their duties in their absence, including processing vehicle registrations, administrate town elections, and file records.
In late 2020, Olson had to reduce her position in New Ipswich due to a health issue, and in December, officially announced she would be leaving the position. Due to her health issue and financial reasons, she moved from her home in New Ipswich to Rindge, and because the town clerk in New Ipswich is an elected position, and must be held by a New Ipswich resident, she could no longer continue in the position.
Her position was held in the interim by Debbie Deaton, who was officially elected to the position in March.
The Rindge positions of clerk and deputy clerk, similar to New Ipswich, must also be held by a Rindge resident. The deputy position is part-time, and is a 10-hour-per-week position with a pay rate of $15 per hour.
