Three local field hockey players have been selected for New Hampshire’s first-ever East vs. West senior game.
In previous years, the New Hampshire Field Hockey Coaches Association has selected the top seniors to face off against the best Vermont has to offer; this year, Vermont pulled out of the game, NHFHCA president and Londonderry coach Nichole Treadway said.
“We wanted to still provide our seniors with an opportunity to play,” Treadway said. On June 26, the New Hampshire East team will face the New Hampshire West team, will all proceeds going to benefit the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
The West team will feature ConVal’s Ella Dishong, Mascenic’s Ally Adams and Conant’s Elizabeth Gonyea.
Players are being encouraged to raise at least $100 on their own for the charitable cause, and Treadway said they’d raised over $4,000 as of Thursday morning.
Fans in attendance are encouraged to donate at the gate.
The game is set for Saturday, June 26 at 3 p.m. at Souhegan High School in Amherst.
