Almost all students and staff in the ConVal School District are allowed to return to school in person on Monday, following the school’s spring break.

ConVal High School needs another week to finalize transportation, staff, and food service preparations before all students can attend in-person together, Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders wrote to families on Wednesday, but the school expects to welcome all students back on Monday, April 5. The high school’s cohort system remains in place for the first week back, with students in the Gold cohort attending remotely and the Blue cohort in-person.

Masks are still required for all students, employees, and anyone else on school grounds, and daily COVID-19 screenings will continue on campus, Rizzo Saunders said, and families should continue to conduct home screenings.

Updated state guidance says that quarantines are not recommended if a COVID-19 exposure happens in a classroom where everyone’s masked and spaced at least three feet apart, Rizzo Saunders said, following a change in CDC guidance that OK’d three feet, rather than six feet, of social distancing in classrooms. However, she said, the District will continue to report positive COVID-19 cases and follow DHHS guidelines.
