DublinOutdoor wood boiler fire extinguished

The Dublin Fire Department put out a fire that consumed an outdoor wood boiler at 124 Old Peterborough Road at 12:46 p.m. on Sunday.

The boiler was fully involved when emergency personnel arrived on the scene, Fire Chief Tom Vanderbilt said, but the boiler was detached from the home and luckily didnโ€™t spread to the nearby wood shed, which was well stocked. โ€œIt was an outdoor wood boiler that got a little bit carried away,โ€ he said, and that the owner had been operating it appropriately and was looking into why it went haywire.

The home can also be heated with oil, Vanderbilt said, a good thing as the owner likely โ€œhad his fillโ€ of outdoor wood boilers for the moment.

It didnโ€™t take long to knock down the fire and check for hot spots, and mutual aid forces were sent home quickly when Dublin personnel determined they could take care of it, Vanderbilt said.
