The Harris Center for Conservation Education is hosting an online series, Fungi Diversity in New Hampshire, starting Friday, Feb. 5.
Interested in exploring the world of fungi found right outside your door? Want to learn how to recognize common mushroom species, even in the wintertime? Join Harris Center naturalist John Benjamin for this three-part online course held via Zoom.
Together, you’ll investigate the critical ecological roles played by fungi, explore symbiotic relationships between fungi and other species, discuss the basics of foraging, and identify mushroom photos sent in by participants.
Benjamin leads lessons on New England ecology and biodiversity for both children and adults. Endlessly fascinated by the complex and beautiful world of fungi growing all around us, he is passionate about sharing his knowledge of mushroom hunting and fungi ecology with his students.
Fungi Diversity in New Hampshire will be held Fridays, Feb. 5, 12, and 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom. Cost is $20 for Harris Center supporters and $30 for all others. Registration is required.
