The Lyndeborough Central School building has been shut down and students are in remote learning after multiple staff members tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

This is the first time a school withing the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative School District has entered fully remote learning since the spring, as the district began the year full-time in person.

Students did not return from the holiday break on Monday, after more than one staff member at the school reported positive tests, Superintendent Bryan Lane said Tuesday morning. A firm return-to-school date hasnโ€™t been established. Lane said he is currently coordinating with the Department of Education and Department of Public Health to determine when the school could open again.

Lyndeborough Central School houses the 16 preschool and 48 kindergarten students for both Wilton and Lyndeborough. Students will continue to receive remote instruction.

โ€œTeachers are providing activities and lessons to families, and weโ€™ll be gathering materials to distribute to them,โ€ Lane said.

In addition to the Lyndeborough Central School, there is also one positive case among a staff member at the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative Middle/High School. The staff member is not employed in a specific classroom, and the school is open and operating as usual, Lane said.
