The Grapevine Family and Community Resource Center in Antrim is holding its first Zoom-based parenting group, geared for parents of children ages 0 to 5. Discussion topics are open and the program is formatted for parents to drop in for evening sessions as theyโre able, Executive Director Melissa Gallagher said.
All of the fall programming between Grapevine and the Avenue A Teen Center is either virtual or outdoor-based, she said, as the organization has adapted to COVID-19. The Grapevineโs building on Aiken Street has been open since July, but theyโve made changes to control traffic within the building, Gallagher said. The organization has been approaching the pandemic conditions season by season and staff are still figuring out how to implement programs when cold weather comes, she said.
Grapevine is also looking for community feedback on what other kinds of programs to offer, or relevant topics to discuss in parenting groups, she said, like dealing with childrenโs challenging behavior as the pandemic conditions grate on them and parents alike. The virtual parenting group starts Oct. 8, and interested attendees can sign up on the Grapevine website and get more information on its Facebook page.
