A Rindge man sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle crash on Cathedral Road on Saturday night.
On Saturday, at about 5:45 p.m., Dillion Doubleday, 26, of Rindge, was driving his Yamaha motorcycle on Cathedral Road toward Route 119, according to Rindge Police Chief Dan Anair. At the same time, an E350 Ford van, driven by a 57-year-old Mont Vernon man was on Grassy Pond Road, preparing to pull out from the intersection onto Cathedral Road.
The driver of the van did not properly yield to Doubleday, Anair said, pulling out too early and causing a collision between the two.
Doubleday was taken by ambulance to the Cathedral of the Pines, where he was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon with serious but non life-threatening injuries, according to Anair.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by relatives of Doubleday, and reported that he has multiple broken bones in both his hands, an injury to his left leg and road rash.
Since the crash, supporters have already raised more than $7,000 to assist Doubleday in paying his medical and other expenses during recovery.
The driver of the van was not injured and was cited on scene for failure to yield.
The collision caused the gas tank of the van to puncture, leaking fuel onto the roadway, Anair said. Cathedral Road was closed for several hours while the spill was contained and cleaned, because of concern that it could leak into the nearby Grassy Pond waterway.
