Police, power and internet companies are working to restore utility lines and reopen Route 101 in Peterborough after a tractor trailer crashed into a guardrail this morning. Emergency responders were summoned to the area of 579 Wilton Road at 6:47 a.m., Fire Chief Ed Walker said, where an eastbound tractor trailer went off the road and broke two telephone poles as it skidded along the guardrail. Power lines are down, as well as Comcast and some Verizon lines, he said. โ101โs probably going to be closed for most of the day,โ he said at 9 a.m. There were no injuries.
โThe damage is extensive and we understand that it may be as much as 6 hours before the site has been cleared by EMS for us to begin restoration,โ Comcastย Vice President of Government Affairs Christopher K. Hodgdonย wrote in an email to State Senator Jeanne Dietschย this morning.ย
The outage affects the Peterborough police department phone system; those with emergencies should dial 911.ย
