The Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department is trailing off their birthday parades and resuming weekly trainings as the state’s emergency orders expire. The department was conducting birthday parades two or three times a week during the Stay At Home order, according to public information officer David Hall. “We get a kick out of it,” he said, and that calls for service were down. Now that there are fewer restrictions on traditional birthday parties, the department would be phasing out the practice, he said.

On June 10, the Department held the monthly EMS training for their licensed responders. They had suspended trainings in an effort to practice what they preach, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page, and all participants in the training wore a mask in solidarity with the speaker. The responders reviewed changes to respiratory medical protocols sparked by COVID-19.
