The Peterborough Recycling Center is rolling back some of its restrictions on materials, but staff encourage residents to hold off major house cleanouts until remaining restrictions are limited.
Effective today, residents may once again drop off cardboard, construction and demolition debris, furniture, appliances, and electronics including computers, televisions, and printers.
Residents bringing cardboard should break down boxes before arriving to help prevent parking issues and maintain physical distancing. Staff encourage residents with multiple large items to stagger drop-offs due to limited staffing ability.
Recycling for glass, household batteries, and lightbulbs continues. Mixed paper, #1 and #2 plastics, steel and aluminum cans are still not being accepted for recycling and can be disposed of loose in the trash compactor. All other household trash must be in a sealed PAYT bag, per usual.
Recycling permits are available through the office window, but the building and restroom remain closed to the public, as does the mini-mall on site.
