To the editor:

My name is Aaron Abitz and I am writing to announce my “write-in” candidacy for the Jaffrey Board of Selectman position. I came to Jaffrey 24 years ago and immediately fell in love with the natural beauty of the area. I’ve owned and operated a local small business, Katsura Landscaping, for the past 15 years and have been well supported by the town of Jaffrey and its residents. I’m now at a point that I would like to give back to the community that has supported my family and me for all these years.

I currently live in Jaffrey and I have children in the Jaffrey-Rindge School District. I have recently joined the Conservation Commission, and I’m also a member of the Jaffrey Climate Initiative.  Katsura Landscaping maintains a section of 124 for the Adopt-A-Highway Program and has also helped design and create the Jaffrey Library Learning Garden and the Goodnow Street Garden.

Although Jaffrey’s immediate concerns are very important, I believe it is vital to also look to the future and what we are leaving behind for our children. The problems that we solve today must also include consideration and action for the sustainability and prosperity of future generations. I believe that my passion for a resilient and vibrant community will align with residents who also hold hope for the best Jaffrey that we can create.
